North Country Active & Healthy Transportation Network Workshop slated for Nov. 19

CANTON – The North Country Active & Healthy Transportation Network Workshop will be held Tuesday, Nov. 19, from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Key events will include:

• Healthy community Design and Complete Streets implementation with outdoor walk audit with national active transportation expert Mark Fenton;

• Asset mapping and GIS tools with Development Authority of the North Country and Clarkson University;

• Active transportation network planning exercise with Mark Fenton, Jeff Olson of Alta Planning + Design, and Clarkson’s Construction Engineering Management Consulting Group;

• Learn how a local community is successfully implementing Complete Streets; and

• How to secure funding for your community’s active transportation projects with the New York State Department of Transportation.

Who should attend?

• Local leaders including village mayors, town supervisors, and board members;

• Technical leaders such as highway superintendents, public works directors, and related staff;

• County leadership and staff including planning and highway departments;

• Town and village clerks as well as town and village planning and zoning board members;

• Anyone with interest in active transportation across the North Country; and

• Those seeking professional development credits (Engineering PDH and USGBC LU).

This event is being sponsored by the St. Lawrence Health Initiative and will take place at Clarkson University’s Cheel Campus Center Barben Rooms.
