Wade served as vice president and board member of the Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce, was active in the St. Lawrence Bed and Breakfast Association, was a member and served two 2-year terms as Ogdensburg Garden Club president, was member and chairperson for the Board of Trustees for the Frederic Remington Art Museum, is current president of the Ogdensburg Historical Commission and a member of the Board of Directors for the Ogdensburg Land Bank.

In addition to her volunteer work in the community, Wade worked as advertising director for both WSLB/WPAC and Park Newspapers in St. Lawrence County, was an account executive for advertising for the Watertown Daily Times and industrial development officer for the Ogdensburg Bridge and Port Authority.

She also oversaw construction and handled all leasing and events for the Gaetano Group for the Charlestown Mall. Wade worked with Canadian firms to establish a presence in the City of Ogdensburg through International Business Services, a consulting business, the chamber press release said.

She and her late husband, Brian Wade, owned and operated the White Gate Inn Bed and Breakfast and the Crescent Inn Bed and Breakfast, after their retirement.

“Kathie loves this community and she is always willing to go the extra mile to improve the City and make a better life for our residents. She truly embodies what the Citizen of the Year award represents for our fair city,” the chamber press release said.
