Potsdam chamber will decide later in May on Summer Festival postponement

POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Chamber of Commerce will decide later this month whether to postpone the annual Summer Festival due to the coronavirus crisis, but is continuing to sell gift certificates and respond to inquiries.

The decision to postpone or cancel the Potsdam Summer Festival will be made once more information is available regarding “NYS on Pause,” currently effective until May 15.

“While we have had to postpone many of our fundraisers and larger scale events, we are planning to host events when we are allowed to and they will be extra special because we will finally be able to be with our community members who are at the heart of our efforts,” said Executive Director Kurstin Stowell.

While the chamber office is closed, gift certificates can still be purchased at www. potsdamchamber.com/gift-certificates or by emailing info@potsdamchamber.com.

Merchants can redeem certificates by mail in the chamber mailbox at 24 Market St.

The chamber is also continuing to respond to inquiries about what is still available throughout the greater Potsdam region and remains committed to serving the community, board members say.

“We look forward to the time that our local businesses can safely resume normal operations,” said Sarah Sachs, board president. “I encourage our members to reach out if there are ways that can we assist.”

Stowell recently spearheaded the chamber’s fund-raising drive for staff of Canton-Potsdam Hospital, raising $8,345 to be donated to those on the frontlines.
