North Country This Week
WADDINGTON – LaVigne’s IGA of Waddington, 150 Lincoln Ave., will open May 10 offering local residents a place to put food on the table without travelling too far.
The former Kunoco Food Mart/IGA closed last June is reopening under new ownership. It was owned by Stephen and Jacquelyn Kuno.
Owners Todd LaVigne and his brother Kirk operate other IGA markets in Potsdam, Brasher Falls, North Lawrence and Chateaugay.
The brothers were approached by Bill Tiernan, a well-known Waddington resident, to bring back a grocery store in the village.
The store will open seven days a week from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. About 20 people will be employed.
The store offers most grocery items including a full produce section, deli, bakery and on-site meat cutter, according to Todd.
The brothers settled on VP Racing Fuels as their provider.
The market sits at the corner of Lincoln Avenue and Oak Street.
