A winter weather advisory is in effect for St. Lawrence County through 8 a.m. Thursday with 3-7 inches of snow possible for the area, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Travel could be difficult, especially later this morning and afternoon due to snow covered and slippery roads as well as sharply reduced visibilities, NWS says. In addition, the weight of the snow could be enough to cause isolated power outages from downed trees or branches.
Snow will continue to move into Northern New York this morning and persist through mid afternoon before slowly tapering off, the service says. There will be periods of moderate to heavy snow with sharply reduced visibilities as snowfall rates approach an inch per hour. The snow will become more confined to the higher elevations tonight.
The high temp today will be around 34 with north winds around 9 miles per hour, NWS says. Overnight the low will be around 28.
