Williams family bids farewell following sale of Gran View; offers heartfelt thanks to community

After 45 incredible years of serving the community of Ogdensburg, neighboring towns and welcoming guests from near and far, the time has come for us to bid farewell to the Gran-View and pass our families’ legacy on to new owners. As we reflect on our journey, we are filled with a deep sense of pride, joy, and gratitude. For over 79 years the Gran-View has been operated by the Williams family. Opened by Louis, Sr. and Tina in 1945, it has been our family’s mission to provide the highest quality hospitality. We feel blessed to have been a part of the community for these many years.

To our valued guests, thank you for making the Gran-View part of your life’s most important milestones- weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, work gatherings, celebrations and many other completely routine and sometimes extraordinary moments. It was our honor to serve you and celebrate with you. We hope the Gran-View gave you a place to feel at home, you all became family to us.

To all of the staff that have worked at the Gran-View over its 79-year history, we are profoundly grateful for your unwavering commitment, hard work, and passion for making the Gran-View so special. You have been the backbone of our success, it has been a privilege to work alongside such talented and dedicated individuals. We know that restaurant and hotel work is not easy, yet your spirit and enthusiasm have made every day a joy. We are proud of everything we have accomplished together. There are no words that clearly express the love and gratitude we feel for our staff that worked so hard every day to make our guests feel welcomed. We will miss all of you dearly.

While the Gran-View will always be a part of us, it is time for us to start a new chapter and allow a new family to carry on our traditions at the Gran-View. We are very excited to announce that United Helpers will be taking ownership of the Gran-View at the end of August. United Helpers shares the same passion for excellence and commitment to service that has defined our hotel and restaurant since 1945. We couldn’t be more thrilled that local members of the community, who are passionate about building up Ogdensburg, will be the ones to carry on our legacy for the Gran-View. Don’t worry, you will still see us working alongside them for many months to come. We are committed to ensuring this transition is successful so that you can still count on Gran-View as a place to celebrate all of your special moments.

It has truly been an honor to live in and serve the community of Ogdensburg. We will miss the beautiful brides entering the dining room. Presenting the blazing birthday cakes. Seeing children’s faces when greeted by the Easter Bunny.

The restaurant being filled with wonderful families on Mother’s Day. Decorating for Christmas. Blowing up balloons for New Year’s Eve. Seeing our guests leaving with smiles on their faces. Once again, our deepest gratitude with our very best and sincerest wishes. We will see you at the Gran-View.

Forever Grateful,

Lou, Claire, Nick, Mark, and family
