MASSENA -- Violet Pearl Ashley, 74, of Massena, passed away Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, at Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
A graveside service will take place in the Spring at Notre Dame Cemetery in Ogdensburg.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Frary Funeral Home.
She is survived by siblings, Joseph Ashley, Harold (Linda) Ashley, Gene (Nancy) Ashley, and Valerie (Ted) Como, and Kevin (Ginger) Ashley; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by parents, Joseph H. and Violet P. Ashley, Ogdensburg; and siblings, Roger, Lincoln, Wayne, Ronnie, and Kneil Ashley.
Violet was born April 2, 1949, in Ogdensburg, the daughter of Joseph Henry and Violet Pearl (Law) Ashley.
She attended Ogdensburg Free Academy and worked for NYSARC Seaway Industries in Massena.
In 2009, she moved to Potsdam and began working for PACES at Potsdam State University.
She enjoyed shaping ceramics, collecting dolls, playing video games, watching movies, and playing bingo in Potsdam and Canton.
She loved working outside, going on trips with sister, Valerie to Dairy Queen, and participating in the Polar Bear Golf Tournament.
The family thanks Violet's caregivers at the Massena IRA facility.
