POTSDAM -- At least two nail salons were raided by federal agents, accompanied by St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies Tuesday morning.
Law enforcement agencies raided multiple locations throughout the county as part of a "victim centered investigation," law enforcement officials said.
According to a press release from the St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Office, an increased law enforcement presence was seen at multiple locations as the Office worked in conjunction with the U.S. Homeland Security Investigations.
North Country This Week sought comment from ICE regarding the raids, receiving the following response from an ICE spokesperson;
“For the safety of our personnel, ICE does not comment on ongoing, upcoming, or planned operations and investigations.”
"As this investigation is very active, there are no further updates available at this time. Information inquiries can be made to the Homeland Security Investigations Office of Public Affairs," the Sheriff's Office said.
Witnesses in downtown Potsdam said they saw multiple individuals being detained by ICE agents at the Paint Lab, 200 Market Street.
North Country This Week has not been able to independently verify details with law enforcement as of press time.
Sheriff’s and agents were also seen at Top Nails, located at the SeaComm plaza, but that salon appeared to still be open Tuesday afternoon. David Huynh is listed as the owner of Top Nails.
According to records, the plaza is owned by GBR Market Street Limited & Liability Inc. and Potsdam Holdings L.P., which are managed by Gibraltar Management of Tarrytown, NY.
On the Paint Lab Facebook page the owners are listed as Natalie T. and My, but North Country This Week could not immediately confirm that information.
More information will be provided when it becomes available.
