The Salvation Army of Massena’s kitchen project still needs $34,000

MASSENA — The Salvation of Massena has raised $116,000 for a new kitchen to provide meals for those in need in the community – but there is still more to be raised.

“In order to start work on the much-needed project, we still need to raise a total of $150,000,” said Lieutenant Nicholas White of The Salvation Army of Massena. “We have seen a steady increase in families and individuals coming to The Salvation Army for assistance as the cost of living continues to have the biggest impact on those already struggling to put food on the table.”

The Salvation of Massena currently has a food pantry that provides food to those in need five days a week. However, as there is no official soup kitchen in the community to provide meals, a new kitchen will allow The Salvation Army to serve between 400 and 500 meals every day and provide other essential services to individuals and families.

“We are so grateful for those who have already come alongside us to generously support this amazing project,” Lieutenant White added. “This new kitchen will help us continue our vital programs and services for years to come.”

Lieutenant White added that monetary support for this project has already come from the Arconic Foundation, the Empire State Development Fund, SeaComm Federal Credit Union, Northern New York Community Foundation, Brookfield Renewable Energy, Liberty Utilities, a Louisville Hockey Arena fundraiser and more.

Donations may be made by sending a check to The Salvation Army Massena to PO BOX 107 Massena NY 13662, or by stopping into our location at 178 Victory Rd Massena.
