The Christophers screening

POTSDAM -- Cinema 10 screening for 11/16, The Christophers (United Kingdom/United States, 2025, d. Steven Soderbergh, English) 100 min R. Director Steven Soderbergh, who made a name for himself by making subversive cinema within the studio system, returns with a film that is unusually emotional for his style (Damon Wise, Deadline). In The Christophers, a pair of siblings scheme to have a professional forger finish their father’s abandoned paintings so that they might have a fortune to inherit when he dies. Ian McKellen stars as the painter, who develops a strong bond with his would-be forger after discovering his children's plan. Kate Stables wrote for the BFI, “for a film about approaching death, and the sudden, devastating loss of talent that may precede it, it’s a surprisingly sparky movie – one that exudes warmth and life." (language) Films are shown on Monday evenings at 7:15 pm in the Roxy Theater in Potsdam.
