MASSENA — For the 2024 tax year, AARP's Tax-Aide program will operate a single site in St. Lawrence County to provide free tax preparation assistance.

Massena Community Center, 61 Beach St., will open every Monday and Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. beginning Feb. 3, through April 15. Taxpayers seeking assistance must visit the site during these hours to pick up and complete an intake sheet.

After submitting the intake form, taxpayers will be interviewed by volunteers and asked to leave their tax documents for processing. As this is the main site for St. Lawrence County, a significant number of returns may be in the queue, and processing will be done in the order documents are received.

Taxpayers can wait at the Massena site, in their vehicle, or return home while their returns are processed. Once a return is completed, taxpayers will be contacted by phone to answer any questions and to schedule a pickup time.

In addition to the Massena location, there will be an appointment-only site in Tupper Lake at the library. Appointments for Tupper Lake can be scheduled by calling 518-359-5012.

The Tax-Aide program is available to all taxpayers, not just seniors. AARP does not discriminate based on age, and services are open to anyone in need of assistance with their tax filings.
