NORFOLK — Members of the Stoddard family will perform together as the Stoddard Family Quartet for the first time during the Norfolk Concert Series on June 19.

The concert is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Norfolk Memorial Garden Park, 35 W. Main St.

The quartet consists of Ray Stoddard and his children, Lacey Peets, Kristin Petrie and Shawn Stoddard.

Ray Stoddard, lead vocalist and guitarist for the local band Sudden Impact, began playing drums in fourth grade and switched to guitar in eighth grade. His first performance came as a ninth-grade student with the band Live Wire during a Battle of the Bands competition. Over the years, he performed with several groups, including Sweet Whiskey Riders, Paradox, Maxidyne, Star Gazer and Razors Edge. From 1979 to 1987, he toured throughout nine states and two Canadian provinces. He served as frontman and lead guitarist for Sudden Impact from 1987 to 2024.

Peets began singing publicly at about age 8 and later taught herself to play the ukulele during the COVID-19 pandemic. She has performed with Sudden Impact, opened for country singer Bucky Covington and competed in local music contests. Her first public performance was at The Coach Tavern in Norfolk when she was about 9 or 10 years old. She also performed at nursing homes throughout St. Lawrence County and currently appears at venues across the North Country.

Petrie began performing at a young age, singing and playing saxophone and piano. She has performed with Sudden Impact at venues including Springs Tavern and the Albion Hotel in Massena. She also performed with her husband, Leo Petrie, in the bands Hat Trick and Split Decision. Petrie won the North Country Idol 5 competition in Watertown and has opened for country artists John Michael Montgomery and Randy Houser.

Shawn Stoddard began playing drums in the mid-1980s before adding guitar and vocals in the mid-1990s. He has performed with groups including Face First, Trigger, BackWater Blues Band and BackWater Duo. In 2012, he founded BackWater Entertainment, which organizes music showcases, open mic nights and karaoke events throughout the region. He won a Battle of the Bands competition in 2002 with original music and has appeared on several regional radio stations.
