OGDENSBURG — State police identified the person killed in an accident between a Mitsubishi Outlander and an Amish buggy Wednesday afternoon on Irish Settlement Road.
Jacob U. Hershberger, 26, Ogdensburg, was killed shortly before 5 p.m. as a result of injuries sustained from the accident, officers said.
Police responded to the accident at 4:45 p.m. and discovered that a vehicle being driven by Alexis J. Gleeson, 38, Ogdensburg, was southbound on Irish Settlement Road when her vehicle struck an Amish buggy in the same lane of travel.
Hershberger was pronounced dead at the scene by St. Lawrence County Coroner Kevin Crosby, troopers said.
Following an examination of the body, the cause of death was determined to be a skull fracture due to blunt force trauma as a result of a motor vehicle accident, police said. Crosby ruled the death accidental.
Hershberger’s body was released to his family.
Gleeson was not injured, officers said.
This collision remains under investigation by state police.
