St. Lawrence County Public Health Department reports 142 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday

St. Lawrence County Public Health Department reports 142 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, Dec. 28. Public Health states that the transmission level is still high.

COVID by the numbers:

• Total number of confirmed positives to-date, 17,470

• Active cases, 552

• Released from isolation, 16,760

• Hospitalizations, 11

• Deaths, 158

• Total number of tests performed to date, 487,786

• Percentage of Fully vaccinated in St. Lawrence County, 58.2

• Percentage of St. Lawrence County positivity rate, 6.5

• Case Rate per 100K, 285.87

The St. Lawrence County Public Health Department is currently holding COVID-19 Vaccination clinics. To make an appointment, call 315-229-3452.

If you or someone you know is homebound and is interested in receiving a COVID-19 vaccine, call Public Health at 315-386-2325.

COVID-19 vaccines - including booster doses and pediatric doses for 5-11 year-olds - are free and widely available statewide through pediatricians, doctors, healthcare providers, pharmacies, local health departments, Federally Qualified Health Centers, rural health clinics and other locations across New York State.

Testing is being done by the below places. Some urgent cares and provider offices are doing performing testing. Testing is by appointment only. Call the hotline numbers below between 8 a.m.-4 p.m. if you have symptoms or feel you should be tested:

The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center and Health Services reported twenty new cases of COVID-19 in Akwesasne’s southern portion Tuesday, Dec. 28.

Six community members have been released from isolation, but there remain 61 total active cases under the Tribe’s jurisdiction. There are two individuals hospitalized, but are not considered active cases due to the amount of time under the hospital’s care. There isn’t any update yet on the 33 community members who are in quarantine at home to prevent further spread.

St. Lawrence County Public Health provides the following COVID-19 guidance from the state:

• All New Yorkers 5 and older should get fully vaccinated.

• All New Yorkers should get their booster dose.

• 18 and older who are two months past the Johnson & Johnson vaccine

• 18 and older who are 6 months past the Moderna series .

• 16 and older who are 6 months past the Pfizer-BioNTech series.

• All New Yorkers 6 months and older should also get their flu shot.

• New Yorkers should get tested after traveling and before seeing family.

• All travelers, domestic and international, should continue to follow all CDC travel requirements.

• New Yorkers who don't feel well should stay home.

• Wear masks in public indoor spaces

• Wash hands regularly.
