CANTON -- The St. Lawrence County Deputies Association is hosting an ice fishing derby Feb. 6. The event is a fundraiser for Sgt. Ryan Shelly, who was recently diagnosed with salivary gland cancer.

Proceeds will go to Sgt. Shelly and his family to aid his battle against cancer.

The entry fee will be $20 and the derby will be open boundaries within St. Lawrence County. The deadline for sign-ups is Feb. 3.

There will be a lottery drawing for prizes which will be determined by the number of entries. Every person entered is eligible to win a prize (prizes TBD).

The derby will run until 5 p.m. and the drawing will held at approximately 6 p.m. that day. Winners will be contacted by phone and will also be posted on the sheriff’s Facebook page.

Public Health and CDC guidelines should be followed during the event.
