MORRISTOWN – An Ogdensburg man is facing multiple drug charges for allegedly being in possession of cocaine, fentanyl and oxycodone pills following a vehicle stop Wednesday night in the Town of Morristown.
St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies charged Leslie Hunter, 45, two felony counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and two misdemeanor counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
The arrest stemmed from a vehicle stop for inadequate headlight on State Highway 37 in the Town of Morristown around 9:36 p.m. During the vehicle stop, sheriff’s deputies, along with New York State troopers, located approximately 74 grams of cocaine, 50 packets of fentanyl, and approximately 99 10mg oxycodone pills.
Hunter was also issued traffic tickets for inadequate headlight, and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operator. Hunter was arraigned in the Town of Morristown Court before Judge Phillips and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility without bail due to having four prior felony convictions. He is due back in court on a later date for further court proceedings.
The St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Office was assisted by New York State Police, US Border Patrol, Homeland Security Investigation, Ogdensburg Police Department, and the St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force (SLCDTF).
