CANTON – The Unitarian Universalist Church, 3 1/2 E. Main St., serving the North Country will host Sacred Scents: a world spiritual practices workshop on Tuesday, March 12, 5:30-7 p.m. with certified clinical aromatherapist Kat Wilcox.

“Aromatics are helpful in creating an atmosphere of peacefulness and calm; supporting meditation or prayer; uplifting the heart; and soothing the anxious or worried mind,” said Wilcox. She added, “Essential oils, aromatic herbs, and incense can promote a sense of relaxation, grounding, and inspire a connection to spirit.”

Workshop participants will learn about the resins, woods, flowers, and herbs that have been used in spiritual practices around the world for thousands of years. They will also explore different practices to connect with the subtle energetic aspects of natural plant aromatics, and how to use them safely and sustainably.

There will be an opportunity to sample a variety of essential oils from plants with a long history of sacred uses, and each participant will be invited to make an anointing oil for one's own spiritual practices.

“We’re pleased to offer this workshop as wisdom and practices from the world's religions and cultures inspires us in our ethical and spiritual lives,” said Rev. James Galasinski, Minister of the Church.

The workshop is free, advanced registration is required. Workshop is limited to 20 participants.
