Rosemary W. Flanagan, 92, Canton

CANTON -- Rosemary W. Flanagan, 92, of Canton died peacefully in the company of family at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital on Tuesday, February 20, 2024.

Rosemary was born June 26, 1931, in Norwood, a daughter of the late Harold and Frances Sophia Wood.

She graduated from Norwood High School and from Canton ATI.

On July 5, 1952, she was married to John Flanagan at St. Mary’s Church, Canton with Rev. George Whitaker, celebrating the marriage. John predeceased her on January 13, 1990.

Rosemary and John operated the St. Lawrence Inn in Canton for many years, she loved being the hostess and making many friendships.

She enjoyed sewing, cats, gardening, feeding the birds in her backyard, wintering in Florida and traveling to see lighthouses. She was also a Cub Scout Den Mother.

Rosemary is survived by four children, John Jr. “Jack” (Kathy) Flanagan, Lynn (Steven) Lawrence, Paul (Sharon) Flanagan and Bruce (Jennie) Flanagan; grandchildren, Sean (Heather) Flanagan, Kyle (Sara) Flanagan, Harry (Amanda) Lawrence, Delaney Lawrence, Shannon (Gordon) Gehring, Brendan and Connor Flanagan and Jada Flanagan; great-grandchildren Shea and Cam Joseph Flanagan, Oliver and Wesley Lawrence and Graham Gehring. Also surviving are a step-sister, Mary Louise Morris and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
