LISBON -- The New York State Police Canton Barracks are investigating a motor vehicle accident that killed a child pedestrian that occurred on July 9 at approximately 6:20 p.m. on Bull Run Road in the town of Lisbon.
Darren Hitsman, 35, of Lisbon, was operating a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado traveling north on Bull Run Road when the vehicle Hitsman was operating struck Elliot L. England, a 20-month-old child.
England was treated by emergency responders but later died of his injuries.
England was pronounced deceased on the scene by St. Lawrence County Coroner Kevin Crosby and an autopsy is being performed on July 10, 2019, at Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
Based on a preliminary state police investigation, the child entered the roadway and into the path of oncoming traffic and was subsequently struck.
The investigation into the matter is ongoing. No tickets have been issued and no arrests have been made.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by Lisbon Fire and Rescue.
