MASSENA -- Major League Fishing is slated to return to Massena for the TackleWarehouse Invitational at the Massena Intake from July 25-27, bringing a unique event to Springs Park as well.
For the first time ever in Massena The Band 814 will bring their River of Life tour to Massena as part of the festivities.
The event, being presented by Ignite Ministries International, will have fun for the whole family, according to Lisa Garlow.
Garlow, who is organizing the event, said things are coming together very quickly.
"It will be a great event for the whole family. We have food trucks coming, activities for children including different games and a bunch house. We will have something for everyone," she said.
The event will also feature 10 professional anglers who will tell inspirational stories of overcoming adversity through their faith.
Garlow said the event is faith based and arose from a desire by anglers to have a place to worship while on the road.
Now, multiple congregations are coming together as part of the special event.
"We have only had a couple of months together but a number of them will be joining us for the event. There will be great representation and a great message of faith," Garlow said.
The event will feature professional MLF anglers including Dave Lefebre, Shaw Grigsby, Bobby Lane, Blake Smith, Andrew Nordbye and local speaker Todd Mullin.
Garlow said many take part in the band as well.
“They really are amazing musicians. They are so talented and such a joy to listen to,” she said.
Mullin is the founder of Iron Mind, a mental health awareness organization that has offered events in and around Massena over the last year-and-a-half.
"We are very excited to see everyone and to offer this opportunity to the community," Garlow said.
Admission is free, with raffles and giveaways ongoing throughout the event.
Festivities kick off at 6 p.m.
