St. Lawrence County Public Transit (slcnypublictransit.com), operated by The Arc Jefferson - St. Lawrence, is holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the placement of a new, solar powered bus shelter at the St. Lawrence County Human Services Building located at 80 State Highway 310 in Canton. The event will take place on Monday, May 19 at 4:45 p.m. This will be a rain or shine event that is open to the public.

The shelter was installed in partnership with the County Highway Department and the County Building and Grounds Department. The project was funded with Accelerated Transit Capital monies awarded by the State Department of Transportation.

Solar panels in the bus shelter power a light and two USB-A charging ports. The Transit routes that have stops at this location include: Routes #12, #31, #61, #62, #63, and #66.

St. Lawrence County’s Public Transit System provides transportation throughout most towns in the County on Monday to Friday. Buses are wheelchair accessible, bicycle racks are available, and there is free Wi-Fi service on many routes. Riders may track their bus in real-time using the Passio Go! application on their mobile device.

Passengers who are not within walking distance of a Transit stop may access Volunteer Transportation Center’s First Mile Last Mile service by calling 315-644-6944 on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Find us on Facebook @SLCNYPublicTransit for additional information.
