POTSDAM -- Last weekend's Frosty Fest in Ives Park drew dozens of participants -- and it also created memories from years past of huge ice sculptures created by college fraternities and sororities during what was then billed the annual Ice Carnival.
Students from both Clarkson University and University participated, and local residents often drove around town at night to view the sculptures lit up by colored lights.
The annual event died out in the late 1980s or 1990s.
