OGDENSBURG – A public informational meeting will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sept. 6 at the Ogdensburg Dobisky Center regarding the Black Bridge pedestrian trail project.
The Maple City Rail Trail Project is currently being designed and is slated for construction in 2019. The project will convert the abandoned railroad corridor and the “Black Bridge” over the Oswegatchie River into a bicycle and pedestrian trail with funding from NYS’s Transportation Alternative Program (TAP).
The shared use trail will connect the existing Maple City Trail, currently ending at the north end of the bridge, to State Route 812. The trail will head south along the corridor, turn and head east to connect with Route 812.
A concrete sidewalk will be constructed from the trail to the existing sidewalk on Route 812. The shared use trail will be 10 feet wide with 2-foot shoulders and will have an asphalt wearing surface in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) standards.
The meeting will be an Open House format with exhibits displayed of the proposed project improvements. The public will have the opportunity to view displays and ask the design team and City representatives questions.
A formal presentation will be given by the design team at 5:30 p.m. explaining the details of the project followed by additional time to review the displays and talk with the team and City representatives.
The workshop is free and open to the public and the public is invited to attend.
