Public Health: 6 new COVID-19 cases in St. Lawrence County, 9 hospitalized; 'very important' people stay home

St. Lawrence County Public Health officials say six new cases of COVID-19 have been reported to them, bringing the county's total up to 151.

"St. Lawrence County is still seeing an increase in cases, and want to stress that we have not reached our peak. It is very important all residents continue to stay home as much as possible, wear a face covering and stay 6 feet away from others when venturing out for groceries, medical care, or work, wash hands with soap for 20 seconds often, and clean & disinfect commonly touched surfaces regularly," the Public Health Department said Thursday afternoon.

Nine of the patients are hospitalized, public health said.

Of the infected, 80 have recovered. A total of 1,282 people in the county have been tested for the disease, public health said.

Testing is being done through both St. Lawrence Health Systems and Claxton Hepburn Medical Center. Testing is by appointment only. Call the hotline numbers below between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. if you have symptoms or feel you should be tested:
