The board passed the resolutions at its regular meeting on Jan. 16.

First the board unanimously approved the appointment of William Murphy of Potsdam to serve on the Potsdam Public Museum Board of Trustees.

The appointment is for a three-year term from Jan. 16, 2024 to Jan. 16, 2027.

The museum board can consist of between 7 and 16 trustees. The Village Board of Trustees is tasked with approving the appointments with a recommendation from the museum board.

Later during the meeting, after an executive session, the board voted unanimously to hire two new employees for the Potsdam Village Police.

Dias Z. Barnett of Market Street was approved to be hired as a police officer trainee, at the annual salary of $47,119.

Barnett's position was to start Jan. 17, with a probationary period not to exceed 18 months.

The board also approved the hire of Brenden T. Flanagan of Bishop Street, Massena, to the position of police officer trainee.

Flanagan's annual salary will also be $47,119.

His hire will be effective Jan. 18, with a probationary period not to exceed 18 months.
