POTSDAM – Scott Dosztan, news director at B99-WSNN-fm and WPDM-am in Potsdam, has died. He was 44.
He apparently collapsed on the sidewalk along Market Street on his way to work this morning.
He had worked at the radio stations for more than 10 years.
“He was an old school news guy,” said the station’s general manager John Winter. “If he smelled something going on he had to dig until he got the answers. He tried to be the first to know without being pushy, but with persistence and curiosity. He was dedicated to the station and dedicated to the community. There are not many like him any more,” Winter said.
Dosztan was from Lowville, graduating from Lowville Academy in 1988. It was there that he got his first radio job at WLLG-WBRV. He also worked at stations in Plattsburgh and Gloversville.
He worked at the Potsdam radio stations from 1990 to 1993 and from 2000 until today.
No funeral arrangements have yet been announced.
