POTSDAM — The Potsdam Chamber of Commerce is hosting its Spring Luncheon on Thursday, May 28 at noon at the Potsdam Town & Country Club.
The event celebrates Potsdam’s 220th anniversary and includes an update on the Downtown Streetscape and Riverwalk construction project currently underway.
The program features Hunter Crary, Village of Potsdam Historian, sharing insights into the community’s early development, the evolution of downtown Potsdam, and the significance of the Village’s 220-year history.
Attendees will also hear from David Thurlow, Director of Planning and Development for the Village of Potsdam, regarding the Downtown Streetscape and Riverwalk project taking place along Market Street (south of Munson Street) and Maple Street (between Clarkson Avenue and Fall Island). The presentation will provide an overview of the project scope, construction phasing, and anticipated timelines. Attendees will learn what residents, businesses, and visitors can expect during construction, including potential impacts to traffic, parking, and pedestrian access. The project includes improvements designed to enhance the safety, accessibility, appearance, and functionality of these key Village corridors.
The Chamber will recognize several local businesses and organizations celebrating milestone anniversaries in 2026, honoring their continued contributions to the Potsdam community and local economy.
In addition, the Chamber’s Marketing and Membership Committee will present its annual “Business on the Rise” Award, recognizing a Chamber member business that has operated for fewer than three years and demonstrates exceptional entrepreneurial spirit, innovation, and commitment to the community. Nominations are open to the public and may be submitted online at www.potsdamchamber.com. The deadline for nominations is Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
The Spring Luncheon provides an opportunity for community members and business leaders to learn more about ongoing investments in downtown Potsdam while reflecting on the community’s history and celebrating its 220th anniversary.
The event will take place at the Potsdam Town & Country Club, located at 6194 State Highway 56 in Potsdam. Lunch will be served during the event. Tickets are $30 per person. To register or submit a Business on the Rise nomination, visit www.potsdamchamber.com or contact Melanie Flack, Executive Director, at director@potsdamchamber.com.
