Parishville-Hopkinton Central recognizes Class of 2025 salutatorian, valedictorian

PARISHVILLE – The Parishville-Hopkinton Central School District recognizes the Class of 2025 salutatorian and valedictorian.

Salutatorian Taylor Murray, the daughter of Mark and Michelle Murray, and has two younger brothers, Shawn and Ryan. She has a 96.42 GPA, and is anticipated to receive an Advanced Regents Diploma upon graduation. 

Throughout her four years of high school, Taylor has received the Presidential Gold Award and earned a place on high honor roll each year during academic ceremonies, was nominated for the Susan B. Anthony Scholarship from the University of Rochester, and has been an active member of Parishville’s National Honor Society since she was inducted her freshman year. Taylor spends her summers lifeguarding at Parishville Beach and also assists in the recreational day program that takes place at the park. She also has been participating in Potsdam High School’s volleyball program since the summer of her sixth grade year, and was named captain this past season. 

Along with varsity, she has been a part of Seaway Smash Volleyball Club for four years. After graduation, she plans to further her education at the State University of New York at Plattsburgh, where she has been named an Honor Scholar and is a part of their Division III volleyball team. She intends to double major in psychology and speech therapy, and aspires to use her degree to become a school psychologist.

Valedictorian Ava Smith, daughter of Becky and Kevin Smith and younger sister to Keely, has earned a 96.52 overall average and will be graduating with an Advanced Regents Diploma. She has received the Presidential Gold Award all four years of high school and was nominated for the North Country Augsbury Scholarship. 

Ava has been Vice-President of her class for four years and is an active member of Student Council, Honor Society, Senior Band, and Yearbook. She has played basketball and softball throughout high school, serving as co-captain of the Varsity Basketball team for the past two years. In addition, Ava has mentored children while employed as a camp counselor during the summers at the Parishville beach program, volunteering as a basketball coach for PARC youth sports, and being a classroom assistant in the Elementary Library at school. 

She plans to continue her education at SUNY Potsdam where she will major in Early Childhood Education with a minor in History.
