I started to itch above my eyes.

The tree it stood so straight and proud
When I got it home I swore out loud.
The trunk was bent but here’s the surprise,
I started to itch above my eyes.
There entwined throughout its branches
Was poison ivy – Boy how it scratches.
The kids are coming to stay for a day,
Or two or three, who’s to say.
The dog won’t sleep and neither will we.
There’s one Christmas light I’m longing to see,
And we exclaimed as they drove out of sight,
“I just love that Christmas tail light.”
Christmas is fun, but there are downsides.
