OGDENSBURG-- One person was rescued from a burning warehouse Thursday following a blaze on Riverside Avenue.
Ogdensburg City Manager Fonda Chronis said city firefighters responded to the incident at 11 p.m. and were on scene until approximately 4:34 a.m. Friday morning. He said one person was rescued by first responders.
"I don't have any details other than that," he said.
The blaze took place at an abandoned Warehouse on Riverside Avenue, at this time it’s unclear if there were any other injuries. However, he did confirm that no firefighters were injured or treated.
He said city firefighters were assisted by Heuvelton, Canton and Lisbon volunteers.
Although the building was alleged to have been used by squatters, North Country This Week couldn't independently confirm the validity of those reporters.
Chronis said the incident was being investigated internally and a state fire investigation would also be performed as is standard procedure. He said it was too early to comment on whether or not the fire was considered suspicious.
North Country This Week will update this story when more information becomes available.
