The Ogdensburg Kiwanis Club recently honored two members, Shelby Smith and Christine Nelson, as Kiwanians of the Year for their outstanding service to the community service organization. The Ogdensburg Kiwanis Club is one of Ogdensburg's oldest and largest service organizations. The volunteer organization built the Montroy Park Athletic Complex and hosts an extensive low-cost youth tee-ball, coach pitch, and baseball program, as well as a large soccer and softball program for more than 500 Ogdensburg-area young people. The extensive youth athletic program helps introduce the city's children to organized sports, teaching them vital social skills like teamwork, discipline, and the value of playing outdoors with children their own age.
