Ogdensburg candidate loses home in blaze

Ogdensburg City Council Candidate Robert Edie lost his home Tuesday evening following an electrical fire, city police say. Edie was not the owner of the property but resided there. Ogdensburg firefighters responded to 1129 Jefferson Ave. at around 5:30 p.m. Police say no one was injured as Edie and his wife had left their home to cast ballots. Edie was in a four-way race for city council, but came up short in his bid. Police say fire investigators were able to determine the blaze started with a faulty light on a carport near the home. Ogdensburg firefighters were assisted by Brier Hill, Heuvelton and Morristown volunteers.
