North Country This Week
CANTON — October has been proclaimed Cybersecurity Awareness Month in St. Lawrence County.
County legislators approved the proclamation during the full board meeting on Oct. 3.
According to the resolution, Cybersecurity Awareness Month was launched by the National Cyber Security Alliance and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in Oct. 2004.
The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) co-leads the awareness program, officials say.
The theme for 2022 is “See Yourself in Cyber”, which officials say will “help to empower individuals and organizations to own their role in protecting their part of cyberspace.”
Officials say Cybersecurity Awareness Month will continue to raise awareness “about the importance of cybersecurity across our nation, ensuring that all Americans have the resources they need to be safer and more secure online.”
