MASSENA—The New York Power Authority (NYPA) will continue its free “Friday Matinees” in August with showings of contemporary and classic movies at the admission-free Hawkins Point Visitors Center and Boat Launch in Massena.
NYPA will show a selection of movies on Fridays at 1:30 p.m. in the visitors center auditorium. Free popcorn will be provided.
The August movie schedule is:
Aug. 5: “Hereafter” (2010): A drama centered on three people - a blue-collar American, a French journalist and a London school boy - who are touched by death in different ways.
Aug. 12: “The Notebook” (2004): A poor and passionate young man falls in love with a rich young woman and gives her a sense of freedom. They soon are separated by their social differences.
Aug. 19: “The Great Race” (1965): Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon star in this comedy about an early 20th century car race across three continents.
Aug. 26: “Soul Surfer” (2010): A teenage surfer girl summons the courage to go back into the ocean after losing an arm in a shark attack.
