POTSDAM – Officers in the Potsdam Police Department handled 2,166 incidents and made 459 arrests in the fourth quarter of 2018, Oct. 1 through Dec. 31.
Those numbers were down from the 2,437 incidents and 501 arrests in the third quarter last year, July through September.
Among the fourth quarter arrests were 12 on felony charges, 28 misdemeanor charges, and 55 violations. Drug arrests were up, at 26, and there were 16 domestic incidents during the period.
In the third quarter, 15 felony charges, 33 misdemeanor charges and 51 violation charges were laid, with 11 drug arrests and 17 domestic incidents investigated.
From October through December, there were 356 vehicle and traffic charges, three alcohol and beverage control charges, six charges of violating village ordinances, 57 “unclassified” misdemeanors.
There were 16 driving while intoxicated arrests, and 96 motor-vehicle accidents were investigated.
From July through September, police made 771 traffic stops, issued 519 verbal warnings and gave tickets to 252 drivers for a total of 403 charges, with 12 DWI citations. Eighty-five motor vehicle accidents were investigated.
