CANTON — The 4th Annual North Country KIDS Expo, hosted by the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce, is returning to the Roos House at SUNY Canton on Saturday, March 16 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Kids and families alike will experience a fun day filled with activities, play zones, on-site demonstrations and have a chance to gather information from local businesses, organizations and vendors who cater to families of the North Country.
This year’s event will include a KID BIZ opportunity which was launched last year for young people to host a booth and pitch their product or service. Children up to the age of 18 can register a booth and have the opportunity to view a recorded workshop from the Small Business Development Center at SUNY Canton.
“As a chamber, we are always working with our partners to encourage entrepreneurship in the up-and-coming generations. This is a productive and fun opportunity to spark excitement for young and emerging entrepreneurs and give them a chance to learn and develop their business thinking” said Kathryn Puleo, Tourism and Events Manager of the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce.
The expo will also showcase educational entertainment throughout the day featuring "Lena the Lizard Lady" with a variety of lizards, snakes and sloths on display in a safe, secure space for children to interact with the animals. Aileen O’Donohuge, Professor of Physics at St. Lawrence University, will also share a kid-friendly presentation explaining the science behind the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse and what to expect on April 8th, along with hosting a booth throughout the day to answer questions regarding the eclipse. The STLC chamber will be on-site selling ISO Certified Protective Glasses for safe viewing of the eclipse.
Entry is free for children 12 and under. Admission for children 13 and over is $5.
The St. Lawrence County Chamber started the annual event to give businesses, vendors, camps and organizations the chance to showcase activities, resources and services they have to offer to local families and children.
