CANTON – A new tool launched by the county shows that there have been 66 overdoses in St. Lawrence this year, including five that resulted in death.
The St. Lawrence County Public Health Department, in partnership with the St. Lawrence County Planning Office, has launched the Overdose Dashboard to provide data on the county’s drug problem.
The Overdose Dashboard, accessible to the public, offers insights into overdose incidents, including geographic distribution, demographic data, and trends over time. This platform aims to enhance the county's response to the opioid epidemic by enabling more targeted interventions and resource allocation.
Key Features of the Overdose Dashboard:
The development of the Overdose Dashboard was made possible through collaboration with St. Lawrence County Community Services, North Country Crime Analysis Center, and High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA).
The dashboard information includes data supplied by responders but is not all-encompassing. Health Department officials note that nalaxone distributed by individuals is not included and somoe overdoses go unreported.
The dashboard is part of a broader strategy to enhance public health surveillance and response capabilities in St. Lawrence County.
