CANTON -- North Country Public Radio has hired two new reporters to add to its news staff in Canton and Plattsburgh.
Fernando Narro joined the NCPR news team in December. He is a recent graduate of the University of Central Florida, and comes to the North Country from Orlando, Florida, where he reported for Telemundo and WMFE public radio. He'll be covering news and issues in the St. Lawrence Valley.'
Emily Russell joined the news team earlier this month. She is a native of Glens Falls, and most recently worked as a reporter for Alaska Public Media. Russell will be stationed at NCPR's Plattsburgh bureau.
News Director Martha Foley said, "These two young reporters are smart, curious and enterprising, and have the news judgement and skills to add to the breadth and depth of NCPR's regional coverage."
Russell replaces Zach Hirsch as the station's Plattsburgh reporter, and Narro fills a reporting beat which opened up with the promotion of Lauren Rosenthal to investigative reporter.
