CANTON — Nature's Café held its soft opening on Monday, July 27, welcoming a warm crowd of neighbors and longtime friends. Located at 19–21 Main S., the café brings a menu of fresh, healthy food to a space full of local character — original exposed brick walls, a photo album from nearby Birdsfoot Farm, and the restored sign from Willow Island, the area's first vegetarian restaurant.
From its first day, Nature's Café has become a go-to spot for a fresh meal. Lunch and dinner center on the signature Summer Garden Rice Vermicelli Bowl — rice noodles with garden vegetables, edamame, and sweet chili — alongside Garden Spring Rolls, Sweet Tofu Pocket (Inari) Sushi, and a house-made vegetable and sea-y sushi roll on Fridays.
The Grain & Poke Bowls, led by the Vegan Power Bowl, and pressed paninis like the Caprese round out the midday menu, all with clear vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free labeling.
Mornings open at 7 a.m. with Sunrise Avocado Toast, almond croissants, egg bites, and the Açaí Bowl, served alongside coffee roasted locally from St. Lawrence Valley Roasters and a lineup of specialty drinks — the Maple Latte made with pure New York maple syrup, the Earl Grey Adirondack Fog, and organic matcha lattes.
"We wanted a space that feels honest and rooted in the community — real food in a room full of local history," said Clark & Yen Maine, co-owners. "Seeing these seats fill up on day one told us we're building something Canton was ready for."
Nature's Café is part of a larger Main Street project that unites two historic buildings into a single natural-foods market and café at 19–21 Main Street.
A grand opening celebration is planned for August.
