Kathleen Merchant broke her own school record in the javelin to lead the St. Lawrence University women's outdoor track and field team at the Friday Night Under the Lights Invite at SUNY Cortland on Friday night.
Merchant won the event with a throw of 39.70 meters, beating the record she set two weeks ago by 67 centimeters. The performance improves her All-Atlantic Regional Track and Field Conference Championship qualifying mark and she now ranks 28th nationally.
Kimberly Merchant, Kathleen's sister, added a win in the discus with a regional qualifying throw of 36.53 meters. Chase Davies (100 hurdles) and Alessandra Uriarte (long jump) also posted wins for the Saints. No team scores were kept at the meet.
A number of St. Lawrence student-athletes will compete at the Bison Invitational at Bucknell on Saturday.
