MASSENA – The Massena Public Library, 41 Glenn St., offers adult knitting, quilting and sewing classes each week, as well as story hours for young children.
They include:
• Knitting group for beginners to advanced knotters, Tuesdays from 6:30-8:15 p.m. by the library fireplace.; this is a drop-in group; registration is not required.
• Basics of quilting and making t-shirt quilts using old t-shirts, taught by Cathlene Hartson Wednesdays from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. and Thursdays 6-8 p.m.; early registration is recommended; six available sewing machines.
• Six Singer sewing machines available in the sewing lab Wednesdays from 1-4:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; join community members as they meet to sew together, and learn from one another; participants may bring their own machine.
• Storytime for preschoolers ages 2-5 and their parent or caregiver, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m.; storytelling, song, and simple craft; registration is not required.
• Library Babies Program for 0- to 2 year-olds and their parent or caregiver, Thursdays at 10 a.m.; be prepared to sit with your child on your lap and learn finger plays, movement, rhymes, songs, and simple books; expect some circle time followed by playtime and a chance for adults to chat.
