MASSENA –Nicandri Nature Center is offering several outdoor nature activities Saturday and Sunday, May 29-30. Reservations are required and limited to 10 participants.

• Beaver Dam Walk and Talk Saturday 10 - 11 a.m. Naturalist staff will walk visitors out to an active beaver dam (0.2 miles, paved) to learn about beavers and how they have changed the landscape. Beavers, muskrats, frogs, fish, and many birds are often seen at the event.

• Insect Hunt on Saturday, May 29, 2 - 3 p.m. Participants will use nets to catch insects to identify. Nets and general information about insects will be provided.

• Morning trail walk Sunday, May 30, 10-11 a.m. to get outside, exercise and enjoy learning about some of the plants and animals on the blue trail.

• Lawn fishing Sunday, May 30, 2-3 p.m. Join naturalist staff to learn about fishing, how to use a fishing pole to cast, and then try your hand at catching model fish. Program is geared towards younger kids, but others can fish, too.

Separate reservations are required to visit the center, but there is restroom access.

Masks are required. Waterproof shoes are recommended. The events will take place rain or shine.
