MASSENA - A Massena Hospital registered nurse was recently honored as the recipient of the 2024 DAISY Award ® for the heart-felt care she provides and demonstrates each day in her job. 

Massena Hospital’s (MH) Erica Daniels, RN, was recently honored by peers, directors, and administration to congratulate her on being chosen for this coveted award. Erica has consistently shown exceptional dedication and compassion in her role, going above and beyond to ensure the well-being of her patients. 

The DAISY Award ® is a special honor given to extraordinary nurses for the compassionate contributions they make every day going above and beyond expectations in science and sensitivity. The award was created to give patients and families a way to express their gratitude to nurses for providing compassionate care to their patients and loved ones. 

One of the comments made about RN Daniels was from the close friend of a patient. “My friend was in for abdominal pain and she wanted to leave. You were so awesome to try and calm her down and try and get her to understand that it all takes time. You were great at convincing her to stay. Keep up the great job," the individual said.  

St. Lawrence Health Director of Nursing Professional Development/MH VP of Nursing Amy Nugent said, “Erica is recognized by her clinical leadership, peers and nursing for always delivering quality care to our patients. She is the perfect candidate and recipient for this award.”

MH Director of Emergency Services Peggy Truesdell, RN, further pointed out Ms. Daniels is a team player who is willing to go above and beyond for her patients and coworkers.
