POTSDAM -- Lawrence Henry (Larry) Manor passed away peacefully on February 11, 2024, at the age of 91 with family at his side.

Larry was born in Morrisonville, NY on the family dairy farm and lived with his parents, three brothers and a sister, with Larry being the youngest.

He attended a one-room schoolhouse where his older brother and sister-in-law were his teachers. The homestead has been in the Manor family since 1884. Son, Robert, and his family currently reside there.

Larry's childhood was idyllic, and his family was very close. The family attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Dannemora, NY.

Larry went to St. John's Normal School in Plattsburgh for two years before he decided to join the New York State Police at the age of 21. He intended to go into the military like his two older brothers but took the New York State Police test and got in before he heard back from the military. He had an enjoyable and storied career as a Trooper retiring in 1989 after 36 years of service.

Larry was in the State Police just a year when he met the love of his life, Kathleen (Kathy) McIntyre. They met at a square dance in Chazy Lake and started dating shortly after that. Larry and Kathy were married two years later, on June 4, 1955.

They lived in Schroon Lake and Saranac Lake , moving around for Larry's job, but they settled next door to the family farm where Larry built their first home. Five children and fifteen years later Larry got a promotion to Senior Investigator in Canton and the family moved to Potsdam.

Larry had an incredible sense of humor and lived life to the fullest, he was well known as a master of the practical joke.

He liked to entertain in younger years and often he and Kathy would feed the single troopers a home-cooked meal. Thanksgiving in the Manor house was a beautiful gathering. Larry liked to cook the turkey on the grill, and Kathy made the best stuffing around! Christmas was also a magical time when the children were younger.

Larry and Kathy enjoyed traveling and loved St. Augustine, Florida, where they spent the month of March for 10+ years. They also traveled to Alaska to visit their daughter several times, once driving there to see the sights along the way.

Larry was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Delia Manor; brothers, Harold, LeRoy, and Louis, and sister, Dorothy; wife, Kathleen in March 2011; and his son, Timothy in October 2023.

He is survived by his son, Jerry, wife, Sally and their two daughters, Emily and Meaghan; son, Daniel, his wife, Bridgette and their three children, Erin, Daniel, Jr. and Michael, his son, Timothy's daughter, Ariel; daughter, Teresa and her husband, Todd; son ,Robert and his wife, Courtney and their two children, Shey and Shawna; nieces and nephews and many great grandchildren.

Larry will be dearly missed and will always be in the hearts of family and friends. It is comforting to know that he is in Heaven with family and friends who have passed before him.

A service and burial will be held in June with details forthcoming.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Potsdam Humane Society, 17 Madrid Ave, Potsdam, NY 13676
