John Wade Trieller, 86, Hopkinton

HOPKINTON -- John Wade Trieller, 86, a resident of State Highway 11B, peacefully passed away Sunday afternoon, March 3, 2024, at North Country Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness.

John was born on February 2, 1938, in Teaneck, New Jersey the son of the late Russell Wade and Katherine (Machnach) Trieller. He attended school in Teaneck, graduating from Teaneck High School. He continued his education at Farleigh Dickinson University, where he achieved his bachelor’s degree.

On December 15, 1961, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, proudly serving his country until his honorable discharge as a Captain on December 16, 1964.

After his discharge, John returned to Brooklyn and started working with the New York State Department of Insurance, where he continued until his retirement and move to the North Country in 2000.

John was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was proud of achieving the Order of the Arrow in the Boy Scouts.

He found great enjoyment while fishing, especially trout fishing. He also enjoyed woodworking, was an avid reader, and played piano.

John is survived by his loving wife, Olga (Melianovich), whom he married on February 2, 1963 in Brooklyn; his children, Anna Trieller of Cross River, New York, Olga Grace Potthast of Jay, New York, and Russell Peter Trieller and his wife, Teresa of Paul Smiths, New York; his grandchildren, Dunlin, Eric, Lily, Winter, and Wade; his sisters, Carole Lang and her husband, William of Redmond, Washington and Katie Trieller of Sebastopol, California; and many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Donaldson-Seymour Funeral Home, Potsdam, with services being held privately at the Hopkinton-Fort Jackson Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers those wishing may consider memorial contributions to be made in his memory to Boy Scouts of America or Trout Unlimited.
