PENN YAN, NY -- Joanne C. Quinn, age 92, of Penn Yan, NY, passed away February 17, 2024.

The Family will receive friends at the Weldon Funeral Home on Friday (March 1) from 4pm-6pm.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday (March 2nd) at 11:00am at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 312 Liberty St. Penn Yan; followed by burial at St. Michael’s Cemetery.

Joanne was born in Watertown, NY, the daughter of Frank J. Demo and Ann Morgan Demo.

She graduated from Notre Dame Jr./Sr. High School in Utica, followed by Crouse Irving Hospital School of Nursing in Syracuse.

Joanne was a Registered Nurse and worked at various hospitals, including Soldiers and Sailors Hospital. She was the head Nurse on the 2nd floor Medical/Surgical unit for many years and retired after more than 25 years of service at Soldiers and Sailors Hospital.

Joanne married John C. Quinn on August 10, 1957, in Utica. Together, they raised four children until John passed away in 2011.

She was also predeceased by her sisters, Gertrude Demo and Rosemary Storrs; brother, Frank Demo; and son-in-law, James I. Reed.

She is survived by her children, Karen Q. Reed, David (Tess) Quinn, Michael (Niki) Quinn, and Stephen (Robin) Quinn; grandchildren, Alexander Kuehne, Jonathan (Ariel) Quinn, Christopher (Katie) Quinn, Kimberly Quinn, John Quinn, Katie Quinn, Alena Quinn, Jacob Quinn; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and beloved dog, Kelly.

Joanne loved sitting by Keuka Lake, reading a good book, cooking, quilting, and spending time with family and friends.

She made quilts for the needy and dolls/stuffed animals for the ambulance and hospital to give to injured children.

She attended numerous school and sporting events for her children; including spending countless hours at the Little League Park.

She was a member of the Lake to Lake Quilter’s group, the 75 Club (Sport’s Booster Club), and a communicant of St. Michael’s Catholic Church.
