Posted

POTSDAM -- Howard "Bill" Beebe, a man of vibrant creativity and profound sensitivity, passed away early Monday morning, April 29, 2024, at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital. He was 65.

Born in Los Angeles, CA on November 28, 1958, Howard, known affectionately as "Bill," grew up and spent the majority of his life in Potsdam, New York.

From a young age, he exhibited a remarkable imagination and artistic talent. At just 10 years old, he was already dreaming up his own comic book characters, inspired by the greats of the industry such as Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Wally Wood.

Bill's passion for the arts only grew as he matured. After graduating Valedictorian from Potsdam High School, he briefly attended Brown University before fully immersing himself in the world of creativity.

He became a clever and quirky writer, cartoonist, and painter, drawing inspiration from his surroundings and personal experiences.

Tragically, Bill experienced the loss of his mother in 2007, which deeply affected him. Determined to honor her memory and pursue his artistic dreams, he dedicated himself to his craft with renewed vigor.

Over the years, he produced an impressive body of paintings and even returned to his childhood passion for comic books after attending a workshop offered by the Saint Lawrence County Arts Council in 2009.

In addition to his artistic pursuits, Bill was also a talented musician, finding solace and expression through his guitar playing.

He delighted in quoting the witticisms of WC Fields, adding his own brand of humor and charm to any gathering.

Howard "Bill" Beebe leaves behind a legacy of creativity, passion, and humor.
