MASSENA -- In a partnership led by Massena Central School Director of Curriculum Stephanie Allen, a homework hotline has been established with students from SUNY Potsdam and St. Lawrence University.
Due to these efforts, students have access to pre-service college students who can assist with homework and try to answer questions to the best of their abilities during the hours of 4-8 p.m. Monday-Friday and 1-8 p.m. on Sunday.
To access help, students can go to the district website, click on the tab for Parents, and select Homework Hotline. A new page will open with a graphic of a school hallway, and students can select the option corresponding with their grade level. Students can then join Google Meet to speak with a college student.
As a large district with many needs, there are a few times and days that may have more limited coverage, but for the most part, the district is trying to provide free tutoring and assistance to the students and families of MCS.
If the pre-service students are unsure, they will reach out to the sponsor teacher or classroom teacher to let them know the concern and need of the MCS student.
