Historic maple syrup making

Posted

OGDENSBURG -- Due to the inclement weather on March 14, the public is invited to Van Rensselaer Point at the Fort de La Présentation site, 22 Albany Ave., to discover the history and heritage of maple sugar production in the North Country. Watch living historians reenact the process used in the 18th century—transforming maple sap into sugar just as it was done long ago! Families love this event, which gives visitors of all ages the chance to try their hand at sugar-making. The demonstration will take place on Saturday, April 4, from noon to 2:30 p.m. Admission is free and everyone is welcome. For more information, visit www.fort1749.org.
