HANNAWA FALLS — Over 100 students and community members attended  the 2nd Annual Postwood Polar Plunge hosted by the Clarkson Student Occupational Therapy Department and the Town of Potsdam on Saturday.

Nearly 75 people took the polar plunge.

The event was held at the Postwood Park Beach on a windy morning, March 9, with temperatures near 50 °F.

A mixture of Clarkson University and SUNY Potsdam students, as well as local community members, jumped or dove into the Raquette River.

Potsdam Town Supervisor Marty Miller, Potsdam Town Councilwoman Allyssa Hardiman, and Potsdam Village Mayor Alex Wilke were among those who braved the cold water plunge.

"I am incredibly thrilled to see the community and students from the surrounding universities come together to support an amazing cause and participate in an unforgettable experience," said Meredith Miller, Clarkson student organizer.

"I would like to thank everyone that contributed including the Town of Potsdam, Little Italy for donating pizza, volunteers for Potsdam EMS, and everyone who helped get the word out. There is great power in the community, and it is amazing to see people come together, enjoy each other's company, and work together to benefit a great cause. I am excited to see the turnout for the Postwood Polar Plunge in years to come," said Miller.

This event raised a total of $1,790 for The Renewal House.
